Moisture Dome Tests: What Do They Measure?

This past year our firm has been involved in two projects that involved Moisture Dome Testing. It is this writer's opinion that Moisture Dome Testing has been overused and abused when it comes to testing moisture levels in concrete. I want to share an article with you that supports my argument.

The article begins by making the statement that this more than 40 year old test was developed by Rubber Manufacturer's Association for the purpose of predicting if the surface of a concrete slab is dry enough to permit the successful installation of resilient flooring materials.

The article is entitled Moisture Dome Tests: What Do They Measure? by Kenneth B. Bondy and Geoffrey D. Hichborn, Sr. I encourage you to take the time to read this article and see how it sheds light on the controversial subject.
