The photo images above were extracted from a petrographic report that was provided by BFI, Building Forensics International for a client that was involved in a construction dispute. The concrete core samples were taken from a pool deck to exam the cause of cracking and rust that was exhibited by the client.
The images show cracks radiating from corroded steel bars. The images display the same crack at various magnifications. This type of work can be very beneficial to an investigation when trying to determine the cause of the concrete defect.
